Will is doing better this morning. He has been awake for a little bit, and his blood pressure is back to where it needs to be.
I talked with one of the cardiac surgical fellows, and she said that she wants to complete Will's skin closure tomorrow. When I asked her when she thought they would try to close his sternum, her answer surprised me. She said that they were going to leave his sternum open. She says it is rare for them to do so, but in Will's case they have to. She said that when he comes back for surgery in a few years to replace his conduit, they will try to close it then. She said that leaving his sternum open should not cause him any problems; he will have to avoid contact sports for sure.
It does make me nervous that the only thing protecting his heart is some tissue and skin, but they have reassured me that he will be fine.
The good thing about it is that we won't be here as long as I had predicted. Once Will is off of his blood pressure meds and seems stable from a cardiac standpoint, we can be transferred back to Vandy so we can prepare to go home!! What a day that will be! My estimate is that it will be another 2 weeks at least before he will be ready to transfer... if he has no complications. And knowing Will, it's definitely a possibility!

Hello Josh, Steph and Will!
Glad to hear Will's doing better today. The ups and downs are just amazing! You are experiencing trials that hardly anyone else ever goes through. We want you to know that we are always thinking about you and Will. You are in our prayers every single night and several times throughout the day on some of these days!
Will's pictures from Valentine's Day are just awsome. Will is looking like such a little man. I love his smile! Great job little buddie!!!
It is pretty crazy to think about his chest not being closed. Maybe some body makes a miniture bullet proof vest he could wear until his next surgery? No rough stuff for sure!
I hope you all have a very non-eventful day. Thanks so much for the updates. Go Will go!
Love, The Lowrie's

The prayer ministry team (and others, I am certain) at St.B's continue to hold little William and all of your family up to our Father in daily prayer-and maybe some more often than that! We appreciate your keeping all up to date here so that we may pray in specificity for each day's needs, though always for your continued steadfastness of faith that our Lord God watches over you.

The amazing Sweet William!! You have captivated the attention and prayers of so many people.
Thanks be to our amazing Lord for everything.
We are praying for God's continued blessings on the three of you.
Such a sweet face!
Note on planting "Sweet William" flowers this spring in honor of our Sweet Will:
When planting from seed, they will not flower until next year. So plant some seeds, but also buy & plant 2nd year plants from the nursery, they will bloom this year.
Hugs and Prayers to each of you,
Uncle Big O Joe, Aunt Becky, Adam & Andrea
