Sunday, February 12th

Will has had a good weekend. He is stable and continuing to make progress.

His ventilator rate is down to 28 and his oxygen is down to 40%. They have also been able to slowly wean on his medicines. This is such a slow process, but every small improvement is a big victory for Will.

Will has been having problems with effusion (fluid) outside of his right lung. The chest tubes usually help with removing this extra fluid, but for some reason his chest tubes didn't to the job. This is a concern because it can cause him to have trouble ventilating properly. So, this morning a cardiac surgeon fellow had to go into Will's chest and suction out the extra fluid and redo one of his chest tubes (he has three). The procedure went well and it seemed to do the trick.

Other than that, he is making some headway on getting all the extra fluids off. This takes time as well. We have to be patient!

I'll continue to keep you posted as always!

We already miss you bunches. Know that we love you and you are never out of our thoughts and prayers. Sweet dreams, angels!

    Love you!!!

Again we are so pleased to hear that things are progressing well... I know that it is a long journey and that there is more to accomplish!!!
On another note, I cannot be more proud of you, Josh, and the way in which you helped the lady and her baby at the airport... It just reinforces what we already know of what great character you have...
Look forward to seeing you again soon...
    Robert

I, too, started my day with the wonderful news of Will's progress. This has been an amazing journey and we know there is much farther yet to go. Our Family of Faith class at Highland prayed for you all again Sunday. They have been true prayer warriors for Will and a source of much encouragement for Lisa Jo and me. A few have also posted sweet comments of the blog. It seems like a wide web-like net of God's love that connects us to each other and creates a blanket of support for you and Josh and Will. Thanks for letting us all be a part of this and sharing Will with us all.

    Always in our prayers,
    Uncle Jay
