Saturday, February 4th

Will is not doing as well as I would like.

This morning his blood gasses were not very good, so they had to go up to a rate of 44 on his ventilator before he would get where he needed to be.

Will is also struggling with his kidney function. They always want him to pee out more fluids than what he takes in. But, for some reason he isn't. His weight is up to a whopping 10 pounds, 3 ounces. I suspect that his dry weight is close to 9 pounds. That is a lot of fluid for a little guy like Will! His eyes are so swollen, and his belly is much bigger than usual. The doctors have addressed this issue by giving diurel in addition to lasix, every 6 hours. They have also given him a blood product (albumin??) that is supposed to help remove fluids from the tissues and put them into the bloodstream, helping him pee the extra fluids out.

I worry about his kidney a lot. This is not good for someone who is about to go into heart surgery. His kidney will take a big hit. I'm sure they will want to insert a PD cath into his belly again during his heart surgery, so they can dialyze him if they need to.

Oh, sweetie, I am so sorry to see the day's happenings were not as good as we all would hope. I am so glad you are all at UM where sweet Will can get the best medical care there is. We are all with you in spirit and praying continuously for you. I love you so much!

    Dear Stephanie & Josh,

Please keep everyone posted. I am not sure why - but the blogspot wouldn't come up for a good while today.

I know you are really worried about Will.I am guessing it could be Tuesday before anything firm is decided about his surgery.

I am sure it is comforting to be back at Michigan - with the best care in the world at Will's bedside.

Everyone continues to pray for all 3 of you.

I am going to try and figure out a way to get back up there. It's hard to be so far away!

    Love you!
    Mom

Will - and you two - have been through so much. I am amazed at his and your tenacity and courage. Sometimes it seems like "three steps forward and two steps back," doesn't it?

Take care of yourselves. Lean on each other. Trust God. And get a good night's rest.

Praying that God will send another of His wonderful signs to show Himself to you.

    Love,
    Uncle Jay

Couldn't sleep so I got up to read the latest news. Get well precious baby Will!

Larriann stayed with us yesterday while Heather was at work. She and Matt came by to get her Sat. after work for another sleepover at Heathers apt. Heather is still planning on moving back to TX.

Can you believe that Jason & Nicole are expecting again?

    Love, Debbie

We will be asking everyone at Church today to remember Will in their prayers every day this week especially, as he draws nearer to the day for his next operation.

I am an old friend of your Mom, Nancy. I only now learned about your little angel and want you to know that you will all be in my heart and in my prayers. Valerie Rufo, Atlanta, GA.
