Will gave us quite a scare this morning.
When I arrived to his room this morning, his nurse said that Will had been keeping her very busy... not a good sign. Apparently, 10 minutes before I got there, he had another "spell." His heart rate, blood pressure, and oxygen saturations dropped suddenly. They gave him some albumin and turned his pacer wires on to keep his heart rate up.
At first, no one knew exactly what caused this, but it now seems that his blood vessels were dry. The reason why this happened is because his TPN and lipids (IV nutrition) had to be turned off because they were not compatible with some of the other meds they had to administer through his PICC line. Normally, you could have the TPN and lipids run through another line, but Will only has one point of access (PICC line). Since he is a cardiac baby, it is extremely difficult to get a line in him... not to mention that he can't have lines in certain areas because of the different issues he has (trach, VP shunt, clots, infections, etc.).
So, for now he seems stable. It is possible that this will happen if he gets "dry" again. Usually they can correct this in a hurry. In the meantime, his diuretic drug, lasix, has been turned down to only 1 dose a day so that his urine output slows, which has worked thus far.
We'll just have to wait & see... something that we have become quite familiar with.

I'm glad to hear that Will's "spell" is over and he has stablized. We've all been praying for him today, and for you and Josh as well.
Wish we could be there to wrap our arms around you. But know that you are in our hearts.

Prayers continue to be answered-- that there was a flight so soon, that we actually made it to the airport in time, that Will stablized and you are all together! God is so good! He knows where we need to be, when we need to be there. Sweet dreams, my sweet babies! Know you are my last thought before I fall asleep, the first thought when I wake up, and sometimes points in between!
I love you all!!!! Kiss Will for me!

I went to Jori's funeral. It was a nice one, I'll fill you in on the details later with an e-mail, actually already started one but lost it and said "forget it" and now I'm off to bed.
I'm still praying for your little guy, what a fighter, heh? He'll be a little stinker you know, with at strong personality! That's good though. They make life fun!
Take care and goodnight,
Angela

Hello Stephanie,
Man, what a difficult situation with only 1 access location. It never ceases to amaze me how many different issues become involved. We're very glad to hear that his bleeding has stopped. It sounds like they caught the NEC very early. How have his abdominal x-rays looked? Is the infection disapearing?
It was just wonderful to visit with you and Will on Sunday. We sure miss you and always think about you. You are doing such a great job during a very tough time. You, Josh & Will are a true inspiration to a lot of people throughout across the country!
Josh, I'm sorry we missed you on Sunday. I know it is very difficult for you being away from Stephanie and Will. You are all doing an amazing job coping with this. We will be so happy for you when you're all finally at home!
I can't wait to visit you in TN and watch the boys play together!
Hang in there Steph! Keep up the good fight Will. We love you all a ton and we're parying our hearts out for you!
Love, The Lowries
